SPORTIME Schenectady catches fire SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) —SPORTIME Schenectady was hosting their school vacation week programs when a fire forced them into action. Carman Fire Chief, Scott Sloan, was in the area for a different call. "A lot of the wires were down, there was a traffic accident. Originally, we were on our way there. We then got the call to come here," stated Sloan. Teen steals firearms from Calamity Jane’s Fire investigators are still looking into whether the downed wires led to the fire. The conditions caused by the accident made the fire difficult to put out until National Grid could step in. "Initially there was a large power line down across the driveway, so responding apparatuses couldn't get in," explained Sloan. (KRON) -- A suspect in a series of sexual assaults on UC Berkeley's campus was taken into custody on Tuesday, university police confirmed to KRON4. Whale found on San Leandro shore was likely struck by boat SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Scientists with the California Academy of Sciences and The Marine Mammal Center said a juvenile gray whale that washed ashore near the San Leandro Marina last week likely died from injuries sustained in a vessel strike. In a necropsy conducted Saturday, scientists identified several areas of hemorrhage found in the soft tissue around the whale’s eye, lower jaw, and shoulder indicating blunt force trauma that occurred while the whale was alive.
